For local businesses, the most valuable spot on Google is often the map. When someone searches "commercial real estate broker Brampton" or "restaurant near me," Google shows a short list of businesses on a map before the regular results. Businesses in that list get a large share of the calls and visits. Karan Devgan, Brampton entrepreneur, Commercial Real Estate Broker and marketer, explains how to earn a place there.

The three things Google weighs

Google says local results are based mainly on relevance, distance and prominence. You can't change where a searcher is standing, but you can do a lot about relevance and prominence.

Make your Google Business Profile complete

  • Choose the most accurate primary category, and add secondary categories where they fit.
  • Write a clear description of what you do and the areas you serve.
  • Add your services, hours, phone number and website.
  • Upload real photos of your team, your work and your location, and keep adding them.
  • Use Google posts to share news, offers and events.

Earn reviews, and reply to them

Reviews are one of the strongest local signals and a big influence on customers. Ask satisfied clients right after a successful job or closing. Make it easy by sending a direct link. Reply to every review professionally, including the critical ones.

Build local citations and links

List your business with accurate, consistent details in trusted directories and industry sites. For real estate professionals, that includes brokerage profiles and realtor directories. Local news coverage, sponsorships and community events can also earn links from Brampton websites. Those links signal prominence.

Connect your website to your location

Your website should mention the city and neighbourhoods you serve. It should show your business name, address and phone number exactly as they appear on your profile, and it should include structured data that tells search engines who you are. Pages for each service and area help you show up for more searches.

Be patient and consistent

Local SEO compounds over time. A few hours a month spent on reviews, photos, posts and content can keep you visible all year.
