Brampton's Top 40 Under 40: Recognizing Local Leadership
A look at the Brampton Board of Trade's Top 40 Under 40 program and what the recognition meant to 2018 honouree Karan Devgan.

In 2018, Karan Devgan was named to the Brampton Board of Trade's Top 40 Under 40. The program recognizes emerging business and community leaders in the city, people under 40 who are building businesses, creating jobs and giving back.
What Top 40 Under 40 recognizes
The Brampton Board of Trade represents and supports the city's business community. Its Top 40 Under 40 program highlights young professionals and entrepreneurs who stand out in two ways: what they achieve in their own fields, and what they contribute to Brampton.
Honourees come from many sectors, including professional services, technology, health, trades, non-profits and the arts. What they share is leadership at an early stage in their careers.
Karan's recognition
Karan was recognized for a mix of work that has defined his career in Brampton:
- Business: his work as an entrepreneur and in business development across several ventures.
- Commercial real estate: helping local businesses find and secure the space they need to grow.
- Community and culture: supporting community organizations and Punjabi arts and culture, including Flower City Bhangra and Flower City Gidha.
Why local recognition matters
Brampton is one of Canada's fastest-growing and most diverse cities. Much of its energy comes from first- and second-generation entrepreneurs who start businesses, hire locally and invest in their neighbourhoods. Programs like Top 40 Under 40 make that work visible. They also encourage the next group of young leaders, and connect people who might not otherwise meet.
For Karan, the recognition reflects something he believes about Brampton: business success and community involvement go together. The city's strongest businesses are the ones that put down roots and invest in the people around them.
Looking ahead
Since 2018, Karan has continued to build his commercial real estate practice with Royal LePage Flower City Realty and to support community and cultural initiatives across the city. In 2019 he also received a Brampton Citizen Award.
